This is Canma's mother, Vera Neuyan. I've actually had this image in my mind of her for a very long time. Years ago, she was going to be wearing a white kimono and use a katana. But then, after my time in England last semester, I heard about the Celtics, and thought they'd make a good inspiration for characters. Hence, why she's transformed this way. The kimono became a white cloak, and the katana became a sword. However, the hair stayed the same, and that's more or less the only truly Japanese-ish thing left.
I also went around and experimented with effects like fog and snow in this picture, and I'm very pleased with the result. Tell me what you think, cause this stuff here is pretty much virgin territory for me.
I gotta say I love this. The fog effect is really well done and the whole picture gives the feeling of being lost in a storm. As for her design the colours merge together nicely without standing out or contrasting too much. Love the hair too.
Glad you like the colors. Yoli wanted the blue shirt to be changed to another color. And yeah if getting lost in a storm is what it looks like to you, then mission accomplished XD

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

I love her character design but it looks like the lines forming her sword weren't straight. Was that done on purpose?
The hands look a little less than perfect but still blend well into the overall pose. And I like the fog effects.
