And I'm back

Tue May 16, 2006, 9:32 PM
Well, after finding out about the business with DA's new policy was a hoax, I've decided to return again. I've got some new art done since I was last here, so I'll start posting that up now. Glad to be back now.

Packing up and moving on

After hearing about DA's policy changes (read here for the full scoop: [link] ) I've decided that I'm going to delete everything I have on this site and move on to greener pastures. I am not going to stick around here and wait for someone to steal my artwork or my characters.

I'd also encourage the rest of you to do the same. If enough people leave deviantArt, maybe they'll realize this new policy was a terrible idea and change their ways. After all, what's the good of making a policy where they can steal your artwork if there's no artwork to steal?

Anyway, I'll probably make a new account at SheezyArt and put my work there instead. Hope to see you there.

Losing my drive

Tue Dec 6, 2005, 8:30 PM
I guess I was really wrong about my last journal entry. Honestly, I feel rather burned out about DA, and I've hardly done any art at all over the last couple months. I seem to just be losing interest in drawing altogether. If you ask me, it's because I'm getting a fiery desire to write, so the soul I used to put into drawing is going into my writing.

However, I'm not sure if I like it that way. It's rather confusing... Not to mention, I feel bad about letting my subscription go to waste. I doubt if I'll renew when this subscription expires. Life's looking like it's going to be rather busy once this next year starts, between schoolwork and then an internship in the summer.

If someone can give me a good reason to forge ahead on drawing though, I'd really appreciate it.

Summer cometh

I'm sure those of you who've watched me have noticed that my content contribution at DA has basically gone to nothing. That was mostly because I was severely bogged down with projects and exams at college, and had no time for drawing.

That changes today though...cause this is my first day of summer vacation! Hellooooooo free time! Oh how I missed you so much! Expect me to be submitting things far more often than before, at least till around September.

Ooooh! My first book!

Tue Feb 1, 2005, 3:02 PM
The first time I've had something I wrote printed!

Well, isn't this kind of strange? In my last journal entry, I was complaining about books, but now I'm praising one of them. Read on to find out why.

For those of you who don't know, before I wrote Sonic fanfiction and made pictures, I wrote video game strategy guides for GameFAQs under the alias "Minesweeper". You can find my profile page here: [link]

I started out on that hobby on September 15, 2000, and over the years I made many guides. Without a doubt, my two most popular works were my Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto Vice City guides. Anyway, about October 2004, I got an email from the company that owns GameFAQs, called CNET. The said that I was to receive $1,000 in exchange for giving the rights to a publishing company to use my two GTA guides in creating a GameFAQs book. I was a little paranoid of it being a scam at first, but over time I learned that it was true. I agreed to allow my GTA guides to be featured, and the check came around Christmas. I'm thinking I'm gonna save it for when I go to England this fall.

Anyway, just now, a package came in the mail. It was from CNET, and it contained two copies each of the two GameFAQs books (one for Xbox, one for PS2). I really like how they sent me the books, because I was planning to buy them anyway to see what they did with my work. You have no idea how cool it is to see your name actually written down in a printed book, and then everything you have written beneath it. Having your stuff on the Internet is one thing, but in a real book you can actually touch and open up...wow... It almost makes me wanna take up strategy guide writing again.
